Christmas in Castelrotto
In December, the inhabitants of Castelrotto will unveil the secrets of their Christmas traditions and allow others to participate in them. During the weekends before Christmas the picturesque main square of Castelrotto hosts a small but special Christmas market. Beside the little market, local farmer's wives offer their cookies, Christmas logs, pastries and other authentic goodies for sale.
Traditional Country Wedding of Castelrotto
The Country Wedding in Castelrotto has already become a tradition. It's the authentic reporduction of a historical farmer's wedding like those celebrated since time immemorial at the foot of the Alpe di Siusi. The throngs of participants wear their traditional garments with great pride - one of the reasons why the event has developed into one of South Tyrol's most spectacular pageants.
Alpe di Siusi Moonlight Classic ...
... is a special cross-country ski marathon. At 8 pm hundreds of participants start into the night from Compaccio at the light of their headlamps and silently glide through the white winter landscape for 15 or 30 km, back to the starting point. The public and supporters are always fascinated by the show of different lights: the moonshine, the headlamps and the torches lit along the way.
Swing on Snow
At the end of March the plateau of the Alpe di Siusi resounds of the notes of "Swing on Snow". This is real music for the heart! Musicians meet here to brighten up the days of the guests with their soft music, together with the warm sunshine, which bathes the snow-white landscape in bright light. "Swing on snow" offers real traditional and experimental folk music.
